Week 1

Chapters 1 and 2 of "The picture of Dorian Gray

Chapter 1=

Chapter 1 begins with the conversation of Lord Henry Wotton ,who also  is named with the nickname of Harry, he is a young rich man who is good friend with Basil Hallward, he is a modern painter, who is not as rich as Harry, but a little bit more younger. The story takes place in London, at the house of Basil, these two gentlemen are talking about the beautiful paint Basil is creating, is a portrait of the so loved Dorian Gray, he describes this character as someone increadible and that connects very well with him . As they continue talking, Lord Henry is always admiring the paint that is not finished trying to convince Basil to show the picture, but he is totally refused because he says that the paint have a lot of himself on it and that the paint was only for Dorian . For Basil he was a very important person, and absolutely necessary for him, so he didn't wanted to show it to anyone, it was only for Mr. Gray. Finally when the conversation of Basil and Harry  about Dorian is about to end, Basil express to  Harry he doesn't want he to meet his friend, but in that moment Dorian arrives to the house, and the only alternative that they get, is to know each other.

Chapter 2=

Dorian Gray meets harry against the will of Basil so they get to talk mean while Basil finishes the portrait. Harry starts talking to Dorian about what he thinks about the good and bad influences and other ways of seeing things. Dorian feels overwhelm and we could tell that Dorian was really touched by the words of Harry.That words gave him a new meaning to his life. Men while all that was happening it is shown that Basil is very jealous of Harry because they were getting very good friends.Then Harry and Dorian are going to talk to the

courtyard where Harry talks to Dorian about how the beauty and youth eventually would get an end. For all that words Dorian realize the meaning of life and how blessed he was because of his beauty. When Basil finished the portrait Dorian get jealous of it because  beauty jelous of it because that paint would never get old and never would lose its beauty. So he began to think why it cannot be the other way, why doesnt the picture get old and he still young forever? he would do anything to get it. This chapter ends when Dorian and Harry left to the theatre.
